Face One Fear Every Day to Exercise Mind Body & Soul

“Don’t just exist. Do something everyday that scares you. Even if it’s just getting out of bed in the morning.”

~ Brittany Deventer

Over a decade ago, this mantra started me on a transformation journey. I learned how to use fear as a tool, rather than of let it guide me.

Since then, I’ve adventured, I’ve cried, I’ve made mistakes, I’ve changed careers, I’ve found freedom, humility and grace. All because I decided to live everyday to the fullest by setting one realistic, achievable goal. Now I do something everyday that scares me, even if that something is just getting out of bed in the morning. In doing so, I exercise my mind body and soul with one action.

How does getting out of bed exercise mind, body and soul?

  • Our body moves when we rise from bed.
  • Our mind is analyzes a fear based thought.
  • Our soul shines when we overcome any fear.

Remember that progress in life is not linear! No matter how badly our culture wants us to believe it is. Emotion comes in waves for everyone. So some days we have to fall back to base line, and just concentrate on getting out of bed. That’s okay! Still counts. Other days we might get out of bed, challenge our mind with a puzzle, practice a new barbell complex in the gym and venture to a social event that’s a little too loud and crowded.

Life is cyclical. Life is waves. Be kind to yourself. Set one baseline goal. Go from there.

If you’re struggling, if you’re being hard on yourself and can’t find momentum, try this when you’re ready. Find a baseline fear to fall back on that’s achievable daily. Get up, or sit up, or lift a finger, or scan the room. Breathe in and hold it for five seconds. Whatever that baseline is for you, it’s enough of a start. Keep going. You’re not alone.

Love yourself,
